    Why Form 8822-B matters

    The IRS sends notices, confirmations and demand letters to the address it has on file, usually the one on your EIN application. If that is a registered agent's address or an old one, letters may not reach you in time.

    Form 8822-B (Change of Address or Responsible Party — Business) tells the IRS the business's new address. We prepare it from your company details and EIN, you sign, and we send it. A company we form does not need it: the address goes straight onto its EIN application.

    Business address vs. PO box: what's the difference?
